Der geisterhafte Charakter des Projekts hinterfragt das kulturelle Erbe der USA mit Blicken auf die jüngste Vergangenheit. Geisslers Sound greift Einflüsse der 1930er Jahre auf und bezieht sich auf die Feldaufnahmen des amerikanischen Ethnomusikologen Alan Lomax. So wird die Allgegenwärtigkeit der Formulierung und Bezugnahme auf fluktuierende Katastrophenmomente thematisiert, um mögliche Formen der Gegenwart und ihre Relevanz für die Zukunft zu hinterfragen.
Die Arbeit wird erstmals in einem Ausstellungskontext gezeigt. Neben dem Video präsentiert Ruyter ein aktuelles Gemälde, zusammen mit den Fotoarbeiten Seidls. Das Video ist dauerhaft, auch nachts, durch das Fenster zu sehen, während die Galerie einmal wöchentlich donnerstags geöffnet ist.

The ghostly nature of the project questions the cultural heritage of the USA with takes on the recent past. Geissler’s sound takes up influences of the 1930s by referencing the field recordings of American ethnomusicologist Alan Lomax. Hence, the ubiquity of formulating and referring to fluctuating moments of catastrophe is tackled in order to question possible forms of the present and their relevance for the future.
The work is shown for the first time in an exhibition context. In addition to showing the video, Ruyter will present a recent painting together with photo works by Seidl. The video can be seen permanently through the window, also at night, while the gallery will be open once a week on Thursdays.
